Policies & Forms

Quick List:

Hours

Our hours are 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with NO EXCEPTIONS. There will be a late pick up fee of $10 for the first 10 minutes after 6:30 p.m. and $1 per minute after that.

Enrollment Forms

Before your child can be enrolled, you must fully complete and return the forms required by State regulations.

Tuition

A $30 per child registration/supply fee is due on or before your child's starting date. There is a registration/supply fee assessed at the beginning of the school year and at the beginning of the summer program for all enrolled children. This fee helps offset the additional costs of the supplies we provide for the children.

Tuition is due on Monday for the upcoming week. A $25 late will be assessed if payment is not made by Wednesday. If fees are unpaid one week after the due date, your child will not be admitted back into the school until full payment is made. There is a $30 charge on all returned checks. Cash is required as payment for returned checks. Your account will be put on a cash-only basis after two returned checks.

Holidays

The school is closed on the following days:
New Year’s Day
Good Friday
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Friday after Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day

When one of these days falls on a weekend, the holiday will be taken on Friday or Monday. We will close at 2:30 on New Year's Eve.

Transportation and Field Trips

We provide transportation to and from area public schools. GISD bus pick-up at our school is available for some of the schools that we do not serve. Please notify us by 1 p.m. if your child does not require transportation from school on a specific day. Safety is our number one concern and any child riding in one of our vans that removes their seatbelt will be suspended from the vehicle for one week.

All field trips will be posted at our facility with destination and departure/arrival times and any fees. Parents must register the child and pay any fees prior to the time of the trip. This serves as our parental consent to transport your child to another location. There will be activities and supervision at Castleglen for any child not participating on the field trip.

Security

If you make arrangements for someone other than you to pick up your child, you must notify the Castleglen main office. The designated party must present photo identification at the time of pick-up, without exception. If the designated party is under 18 years old, we must have a signed statement giving us permission to release your child to a minor.

Please indicate on the enrollment form which individuals are permitted to pick up your child and any individuals who are not permitted to pick up your child.

Sign-in

State regulations require each child to be signed into the school when dropped off. You must include:

  • Child’s first and last name
  • Time of arrival
  • Time of departure
  • Name of the person picking up the child
  • Signature of the person picking up the child

Meals and Nutrition

Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack are provided daily for your child. These meals meet all USDA requirements for nutrition and serving size. Menus are posted on the information board in our lobby. Breakfast is served between 6:45 and 8:15 a.m. and lunch is served between 11:00 and 11:45 a.m. Snacks are served at 2:30 p.m. or upon return from public school.

We will encourage, but not force, your child to eat. A portion of each food will be served to them, and they are encouraged to try each food. Sugar, salt and additives are limited as much as possible. Castleglen Private School will never serve carbonated beverages nor are they permitted at meals. Older children are allowed to purchase soft drinks on a limited basis in the afternoons. By giving the child the money to purchase a drink, you are giving your permission for them to have it.

If you provide meals and snacks for your child on a regular basis, you will be required to sign a statement stating Castleglen Private School is not responsible for the nutritional value of your child's diet.

Parties

If you wish to provide special snacks for a birthday party for your child, please notify us so we can make arrangements. We will generally host one or more Open Houses each year and individual classes will celebrate seasonal holidays throughout the year.

Medication

Medicine must be signed in on the medicine sheet at the front desk each day your child is to take it. Your child’s first and last name must be on the medicine sheet. Prescriptions must be in the original container. Over-the-counter medication must be age appropriate or accompanied by a doctor’s prescription. We do not give medication for fever.

Health Policy

Preventing the spread of disease begins with careful observation. If your child exhibits any of the following symptoms, please follow these instructions:

  • If your child’s temperature is above 100.4 orally or 99.4 under the arm, the child should stay home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without medication. Alternatively, a doctor may provide a note stating the child is not contagious and may return to the center.
  • If the child’s temperature is 99.0-99.8 degrees with any of the symptoms listed below, or if any of the symptoms marked with a (*) are present, the child should stay home.
    • *Diarrhea, defined as two or more loose, watery bowel movements within a one-hour period.
    • *Reddened eyes with a discharge or crusted eyelids (requires doctor’s note to return)
    • *Nausea and/or vomiting
    • *Rashes in any form on the face or abdomen
    • Earache (sometimes indicated by the child rubbing or pulling at the ear)
    • Stomach ache, especially if your child is doubled over or seems very restless
    • Sore and reddened throat, possibly with a raspy cry
    • Listlessness and no appetite
  • Other problems requiring the child to stay home may include:
    • Lice – A small, gray/white insect on the scalp. Usually accompanied by eggs attached in groups. Child may return as soon as treatment has begun.
    • Scabies – A mite living under the skin surface, appearing as small red dots, usually between the fingers and causing intense itching. Child may return as soon as treatment has begun.
    • Ringworm – A fungus of the scalp or body causing intense itching. Must remain covered after treatment has begun. If on the scalp, child should stay home until treatment has begun.
    • Pinworms – An intestinal worm depositing eggs visible to the eye on the perineum or in the feces and causing rectal itching.
    • Impetigo – A single or cluster of small blisters that will break or drain and become crusted. Child should stay home until treatment has begun.

If the center director determines that your child should leave the school, we will contact you and ask you to pick up your child. Your child will be isolated from the other children until he/she is picked up.

The director will notify parents if a child in the school is diagnosed with a reportable contagious disease. In case of any emergency, we will contact 911 and then notify parents.
